Let's celebrate the European Day of Languages with us: final activity

The last activity of the eTwinning project "Let's celebrate the EDL with us" has ended some months ago with a nice activity for Easter. Students of class I H of the school "L. Da Vinci - O. Nucula" in Terni created, sent and received cards for Easter.
They created the cards together with the teacher of Art and wrote a message in English and Italian with the teacher of Italian.

Here are the cards we created

These are the cards we received.

This project was a wonderful experience for them because it helped the students to improve their English and digital skills but also because they became more aware of living in a bigger place that is the European Union where there are a lot of different people who speak different languages. Kids loved all the activities but the ones they liked best were the Skype sessions with Ukraine and Romania.

The Old Man has come back to Italy!

The Old Man has come back to Italy in his FIAT 600 after having travelled to France, Norway, Finland and Portugal and he also took back with him a lot of souvenirs and a new friend from Finland.

Here you can see some pics of the Old Man at school in Stroncone.

He also went to visit the writer Pigi Sbaraglia in the school where he works.

Here is also his virtual suitcase created using prezi.

And as a last activities students and teachers from all partner schools wrote their goodbye posts in the padlet below, there is also a message written by the writer himself.

Presentation about France and the "Happy video"!

Here are the last two activities of the etwinning project "ESTV".
The first video is a presentation on France created collaboratively in fact each partner school asked and answered two questions and all the questions together made this presentation possible.

The video below is the "goodbye" activity: the students of each partner school recored a part of the song "Happy" and then all the videos were put together to create only one video.

They worked on these activity both at school and at home, in groups and individually using the tools they preferred such as powtoon, power point, word, videos.

Here are some of the works.

Children's toys: an ebook

Students of class I As (I. C. B. Brin - Stroncone -TR) took part in the etwinning project "Children toys: yesterday, today, tomorrow.
Among other activities they invented stories in which toys talk to each other in English. They use structures and vocabulary students learnt at school this year and when the dialogues are a bit more sophisticated is because the kids used online dictionaries to discover new words.

Here is the ebook with all their stories.

A great workshop and interview with Pigi Sbaraglia

Last 14th May students of class II Bs of the school "B. Brin" (Stroncone - TR) had the chance to have a lecture and a workshop with Pigi Sbaraglia writer of "Le avventure del Vecchietto con la 600".

These activities were part of the etwinning project "The Old Man with his FIAT 600 in Europe" that saw the class involved all the school year together with students for Norway, France, Finland and Portugal.

First of all the writer talked about writing a comic story and explained the children all the most important aspects they should include in a tale.

Then students were split in groups and started preparing a mindmap for a story.

When they finished they interviewed the writer asking questions they thought of and also questions European students had sent.

Here are two videos with all the questions and answers.

Part 1

Part 2

After the interview the students read their stories to the writer and he chose the best two: "San Vecchietto" and "The Old Man in Space".

At the end of the meeting we gave Pigi Sbaraglia a present: the book with all the Old Man stories and a pen to write more stories!

Interactive European Pathway

Students of class I Bs have been recently involved in the eTwinning project "Interactive European Pathway" with a lot of other students from around 28 EU countries.

The main aims of the projects are:

- to create a poster and a video about their homeland;
to know more about EU countries;
- to improve written and communication skills in English;
- to improve digital skills;
- to develop cultural awareness.

All the partner schools prepared a poster with the most important facts about their country and a video that we printed and displayed at schools.

In the posters there are QR codes so that both children and visitors can scan them and watch the videos using a smartphone or a tablet.

Here are all the posters: have a go!

Last Monday Italian students used their device to scan the QR codes and to watch the videos: what a fun!

eTwinning e non solo: terzo incontro all'I C B. BRIN - Terni

Skype session Norway-Italy

This morning students of class II Bs had a great Skype session with their Norwegian mates who are working at the eTwinning project "The Old Man with his FIAT 600 in Europe".

They had the chance to ask questions and answer to their peers and practice English.

Some of the questions asked were:

What's the weather like there?
Did the Old Man like Norway?
Do you like Italian food?
What's the most popular sport in Italy?
What do you think Norway is like?
What do you do after school?
How long is your school day?
What subjects do you study at school?
How long are your sumer holidays?
Are your teachers friendly?

That was a really great experience both for students and teachers: it's really nice seeing students willing to speak English, even though they are a bit ashamed!

Here is a video made with kizoa with some pics of the experience.

The Old Man and European food!

The Old Man with his FIAT 600 is still travelling around Europe: he started from Italy, then went to France, visited Finland and is about to leave Norway to go to Portugal. +
During his wonderful journey he saw a lot of new things, explored cities and unknown places and also tested new food.

Thanks to the stories created by European students and to some info they gave us on a padlet in the twinspace of our etwinning project, Italian students created this presentation and had the chance to learn what their friends eat and also to use a new tool that is google apps (presentation). We shared this presentation here using another tool that is slideshare.

Some EU countries

Students of class II As created presentations on some EU countries within the eTwinning project "ESTV".
The students of the partner schools prepared questions on their own countries to be answered by students of other countries and shared them in the twinspace.

So Italian students worked in small groups of 3 and made presentations using different programs such as word, powerpoint, powtoon and to share them on the internet we used box, slideshare and youtube.

The most beautiful thing was to see students reading the questions and looking for the info they needed to answer them by themselves. They asked me only a little help after having found what they were looking for. I was going around them and I really enjoyed to see them involved in searching, analyzing, investigating, choosing what they needed to create their presentation.
It was also a great moment when they showed their work to all the class, they were proud of their own work and interested in the works of the others.
Nevertheless they learnt a lot of aspects related to the countries their friends live in.

Videos created using powtoon and shared using youtube.

Doc created using word and shared using box.

Presentation created using powerpoint and share using slideshare.

ESTV eTwinning project: Skype session!

Today we finally succeed in having a Skype session with our Croatian friends of ESTV eTwinning project.
It was an amazing experience and we really enjoyed it a lot. We were all happy about it also because it is not easy to find some time to talk together due to the different timetables each school has.

Students of both countries asked and answered very simple questions and were able to communicate with their peers, with real people!

Among the questions there were:

What's your name?
How old are you?
What are your hobbies?
What do you do in your free time?
What's your favourite subject at school?
What time does your school start/finish?

Thanks again dear friends!
