Here is the calendar 2013 we made together with our Turkish friends of the eTwinning project "A song a month".
We a song each month, downloaded a picture of the singer and added a sentence from the song that we liked.
Welcome to teacher Chiara's blog! Questo blog è principalmente rivolto ai miei alunni con l'obiettivo di stimolare in loro interesse e curiosità per la lingua inglese che ci permette di comunicare con tante persone di culture diverse dalla nostra.

Kiss you
This week the students of class II A listened to the song "Kiss you" by One Direction within the eTwinning project "A song a month".
After listening to it I gave them a line of the song each to draw. So they started drawing at school and finish their works at home.
When they gave me their papers back I took pictures and and created this video.
I'm sure that they will remember more then I could hope of this song and, for sure, they will remember at least the words and the meaning of the lines they drew!
I had this idea from the blog "The machine goes on" so I wish to say a big THANK YOU to my colleague Daniela Tomatis who is a source of inspiration for me and my students!

Chatting in etwinning: how lovely!
Last evening at 6.00 pm some students of class II A had a chat session with their French and Turkish partner of the etwinning project "A song a month".
We all enjoyed this and the previous chat sessions because in this way we can communicate with other students and teachers who live far away but who share the same interests.
The students had the chance of asking a lot of questions about several topics eg. weather, free time, school systems, music, films, tv programmes, etc.
About school we discovered that in France they have three terms, while we have two; in Turkey they have two terms but they were on holiday this week so this means they have holidays in different times of the year. We discussed about our free time activities and sport and the Turkish students told us they watch Milan and Juventus football matches and a boy in France told us he has a rock band. And many other things like these.
Taking part to etwining projects give us the chance of getting to know each other and to know different cultures throughout Europe, discovering differences and similarities, allowing everyone to develop a better understanding of peoples.
We can do all this using English to communicate and this also makes us happy!
So ... let's keep up the good work we have done so far and go on!

Imagine: match pictures with words
This is another very nice activity Lucreazia and Riccardo of class II A have created for the etwinning project "A song a month".
After having listened to the song and done the other activities here is a "match pictures and words" game". The pictures have been drawn by the students themselves.

2nd chat
Yesterday evening the students of class II A had the chance of chatting together with their new Turkish firends. of course they used English to communicate and in addition to personal questions such as
How are you?
How old are you?
Have you got brothers/sisters?
What's your mum's/dad's job?
Who's your favourite singer?
What's your favourite song?
What's your favourite subject?
Have you got pets?
What's your favourite colour?
they also asked and answered to questions about school.
So yesterday we discovered that our Turkish friends start school at 8.30 a.m. and finish at 2.30 p.m.. They have 10 minutes break like us and don't go to school on Saturday and Sunday.
They have Christmas holiday, long summer holiday but do not have Easter holiday.
The Turkish students and teacher told us that today they go to school because is Ataturk's dead anniversary and sing their national anthem and read poems.
As Italian students didn't know about Ataturk we discovered he was the president who founded the Republic of Turkey and died in 1938.
Here you can read more on Ataturk
http://www.biography.com/people/mustafa-kemal-ataturk-20968109
The Italian students told their friends about school and holiday in Italy too.
The chat was a great opportunity to get to know each other, to become friends, to share experiences, but also to learn more about the culture and the history of another country.
So...
to all of you who took part in this fantastic experience!

Imagine: a word search
Several students of class II A created a word search with words related to the song "Imagine".
I collected all the activities and made a bigger word search including all the words they wanted to be there.
Here is the game.

Here is a crossword Silvia, a student of the class involved in this project made. She made it on paper and I copied it in a website where it is possible to create crossword.

Imagine: a word cloud
Last week students of class II A listened to the song Imagine and they also did some activities I prepared for them.
This week I asked them to prepare activities on the song and they really did a very good job.
Now here I found a nice way of doing a word search so ... try to find the 10 words related to the song!
The first one who finds all of them will get a prize!

A song a month: 1st chat!
Yesterday evening from 8.30 pm to almost 10.00 pm Italian and Turkish students and teachers taking part to the eTwinning project "a song a month" have been chatting and having a lot of fun!
I was really a great experience ! There were more than 20 people chatting at the same moment and they were eager to know each other and asked a lot of questions such as:
What's your name?
Where are you from?
How old are you?
How are you?
What's your favourite sport?
What's your favourite song?
Who's your favourite singer?
What's your favourite food?
What are you doing?
How many people are there in your family?
... and so on.
All the students had the chance of asking and answering a lot of questions and could also "listen" (I should say read but it seemed as if we were face to face) to the others chatting.
Of course English wasn't perfect but we were all able to understand each other and this is the most important aim to keep in mind when we learn another language: to COMMUNICATE with other people!
Both the Turkish colleague and I were really happy and glad to see how effectively our students talked and how enthusiastic about it they were!

Students of class II A will take part to the eTwinning project "A song a month".
They have already started with the first activities of introducing themselves and of writing posts about their favorite songs on the twinspace of the project. We are also having a chat sessions with some students from the partner schools next Friday 12th October in which all of us will have the chance of asking and answering questions to get to know each other a little bit. Here is the map with the schools involved in this project.
The project idea is to work on some famous songs and on songs the students like and to create language activities to share with the other schools. At the end of the projoct we will create a calendar with pictures and info about singers and bands and with sentences taken from our favorite songs. We will also create a song book with the songs we listened to and the activities students and teachers have created.
Here is the list of all the schools involved in the project.
The main objectives of the project are:
So, let's listen to beautiful songs!
