eTwinning e non solo: secondo incontro all'IC B BRIN - Terni

Oggi pomeriggio si è svolto il secondo incontro "eTwinning e non solo" all'Istituto Comprensivo "B. Brin" di Terni.

Abbiamo iniziato con un test su quello che avevamo fatto la scorsa volta proprio come in una classe con i nostri alunni! Per il test abbiamo usato Socrative così abbiamo anche scoperto un nuovo strumento da poter utilizzare con gli studenti.

Abbiamo poi proseguito ad esplorare la piattaforma eTwinning e i materiale per l'autoformazione e alcune attività che si possono svolgere nell'ambito dei progetti eTwinning.

Siamo poi passati ad illustrare la piattaforma didattica Edmodo e alcune delle possibilità che offre. I docenti presenti si sono iscritti a un gruppo creato per loro in cui poter sperimentare la condivisione di link e documenti.

Sono stati presentati padlet e alcune delle google apps, in particolare abbiamo visto come creare e condividere i documenti e le presentazioni.

L'incontro è terminato con la consegna dei compiti per casa: riflessioni e pensieri dopo i due incontri!

Let's celebrate our QL!

Today we celebrated the Quality Labels we received for the project "Let's become tourist guides" in Lugnano.
We got a national Quality Label and a European Quality Label.
After having been on the newspaper now we deserve a treat and ... here it is!

Riconoscimenti all'istituto comprensivo

Questo è il titolo di un articolo uscito sul Corriere dell'Umbria di oggi 8 novembre.

Partecipare a progetti eTwinning è sicuramente una motivazione molto forte per migliorare e approfondire la conoscenza della lingua inglese, è un'occasione importante per venire a contatto con le culture delle nazioni dell'Unione Europea e creare gemellaggi virtuali tra scuole e alunni.  

Il nostro lavoro è stato apprezzato e riconosciuto a livello locale, nazionale e europeo e questo ci rafforza nella convinzione che stiamo sulla strada giusta per contribuire a creare cittadini europei dell'oggi e del futuro.

Un grande grazie al personale dell'unità nazionale etwinning italiana che con competenza e professionalità ci segue, ci consiglia, ci mette a disposizione risorse che contribuiscono all'ottima riuscita dei progetti e alla formazione di alunni e docenti. 

Grazie anche a tutti gli alunni che hanno partecipato ai progetti dell'anno scolastico 2012-2013, alla collega Brunella Coniglio, al DS dell'Istituto Comprensivo di Attigliano-Guardea, al giornalista che ha scritto l'articolo e alla redazione del giornale che ha voluto dare spazio al racconto di un'iniziativa che ha per protagonisti ragazzi entusiasti e desiderosi di conoscere la realtà che ci circonda. 

Intro a etwinning

Mercoledì 30 ottobre presso la scuola XX Settembre di Terni ho avuto la possibilità di parlare di etwinning con un gruppo di circa 20 insegnanti della scuola primaria molto motivate, entusiaste e desiderose di portare qualcosa di nuovo all'interno delle loro pratiche didattiche relativamente all'insegnamento - apprendimento della lingua inglese e non solo.

Questo incontro è stato inserito nelle attività di disseminazione organizzate dalla collega Anna Grazia Fraboni al rientro dalla sua visita di studio in Inghilterra.

Ho quindi iniziato facendo vedere uno spot, creato da me proprio per l'occasione, usando un'applicazione della quale sono venuta a conoscenza grazie ad una mia amica e collega, anche lei un'appassionata etwinner, e con il quale ho spiegato le caratteristiche, a mio avviso principali, di etwinning.

Questo breve spot mi ha anche permesso di "testimoniare" la ricchezza che etwinning offre a livello di comunità di docenti che si scambiano idee, buone pratiche, conoscenze per migliorare il proprio stile di  insegnamento attraverso l'innovazione e l'uso delle TIC in modo molto concreto. 

Ho poi proseguito con un'analisi un po' più approfondita illustrando obiettivi principali, personale a cui si rivolge, vantaggi (tanti) e svantaggi (pochissimi), possibilità di progetti, attraverso un prezi che avevo già usato durante un altro incontro (etwinning ci permette anche di "riciclare"!). 

E' stato davvero un momento piacevole, sebbene breve, e, spero, di aver creato curiosità e voglia di provare a mettersi in gioco facendo qualcosa di nuovo, qualcosa che per i nostri alunni, ma anche per noi, costituisce una spinta all'apertura, un'opportunità di affacciarsi ad una grande finestra, quella europea, per veder passare tanta gente, storia, cultura e per cogliere l'occasione di incontri che ci permettono di conoscere, di migliorare, di crescere insieme per diventare cittadini europei consapevoli di oggi ma anche di domani!.

Today is the European Day of Languages and at school we celebrate it by starting displaying the postcards from all around Europe within the etwinning project. (More pics will come soon)

It is important to realize how many languages are spoken in Europe and it is important to learn some of them too. Why? To communicate with others of course, to know people from other countries and cultures better, to build strong relationships among people, to create the Union that the founding fathers hoped for, not to fight anymore.

So there are a lot of reasons to celebrate this day!

And remember: Learning another language can make things different!!!!

eTwinning: istruzioni per l'uso

Oggi presso l'IIS "F. Angeloni" di Terni, insieme alla collega Michelina Comegna, referente pedagogica eTwinning dell'USR Umbria, ho avuto modo di entrare nel vivo del mio ruolo di ambasciatrice eTwinning.

Dopo la presentazione generale di etwinning i colleghi si sono registrati e abbiamo cercato di esplorare le possibilità che un progetto etwinning può offrire, abbiamo introdotto TwinSpace con le opportunità di condivisione e didattiche che offre e abbiamo cercato di rispondere alle domande.

E' stato davvero un bel  momento di formazione partecipato, di collaborazione con la mia collega e di  condivisione di esperienze con tutti gli altri. 

Quindi ...  grazie a tutti!

Yesterday evening the students of class II A had the chance of chatting together with their new Turkish firends. of course they used English to communicate and in addition to personal questions such as

How are you? 
How old are you? 
Have you got brothers/sisters?
What's your mum's/dad's job?                       
Who's your favourite singer?
What's your favourite song?
What's your favourite subject?
Have you got pets?
What's your favourite colour?

they also asked and answered to questions about school.

So yesterday we discovered that our Turkish friends start school at 8.30 a.m. and finish at 2.30 p.m.. They have 10 minutes break like us and don't go to school on Saturday and Sunday.

They have Christmas holiday, long summer holiday but do not have Easter holiday.
The Turkish students and teacher told us that today they go to school because is Ataturk's dead anniversary and sing their national anthem and read poems.
As Italian students didn't know about Ataturk we discovered he was the president who founded the Republic of Turkey and died in 1938.

The Italian students told their friends about school and holiday in Italy too.

The chat was a great opportunity to get to know each other, to become friends, to share experiences, but also to learn more about the culture and the history of another country.

Etwinning European Quality label

After having received the eTwinning National Quality Label we also got the eTwinning European Quality Label and I'm really proud of all my students who took part in the project "Postcards from our Countries" last school year.

We work hard and full of enthusiasm trying to learn as mush as we could and improve both our language and ICT knowledge.

We achieved an important result and it's nice to share this achievement with other schools in Europe.

Receiving postcards!

This morning students of class I D could read all the postcards that have arrived from France, Turkey, Spain, Britain and Italy. They were really very happy and it was like a party! After we read all the postcards we went to the language room and changed the postcards on the poster. All the students were enthusiastic of this activity and I'm happy too because this project motivates them in learning as much English as possible and rouses their curiosity.

Chatting with Turkish and Polish teenagers

Yesterday evening some students of class II A and I had an other chat session with our Polish and Turkish friends. We had the chance of practicing English and of knowing more about the culture of our friends. In fact we came to know that yesterday, 23rd April, in Turkey it was Children day. The students read poems for this events. We told them something about the school trip to Milan and we chatted about our favouritte music, singers, football players and so on. In this way we discovered how many things we have in common and also cultural traditions. 

About 23rd April

"The 23rd April is Children’s Festival a children’s festival which was gifted to Turkish children by Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, founder of the Republic of Turkey, to mark the opening of the Assembly. The festival has been celebrated internationally since 1979. The Children’s Festival was first celebrated in Turkey on 23 April 1920, when the Turkish Grand National Assembly was opened. The Festival intends to contribute to the creation of a world where children can live peacefully by developing sentiments of fraternity, love and friendship.

The greatest aspiration of Atatürk, who saved his country from occupations and introduced reforms in all fields hence changing the viewpoint of the nation it was modernization, in other words, an industrialized country that the industry of the Republic which it was founded on was out of date and poorly equipped, Ataturk endeavored to achieve modernization through educational reform, and thus entrusted Turkey to the children and the youth. Atatürk knew that modernization could not be achieved in a rapid way; therefore, he presumed that the Turkish children educated at schools resting upon positive sciences could attain his goals. Here is a very nice activity a French colleague of mine created for the project "Postcards from our countries"

Receiving postcards from Leon and Izmir

Some days ago I delivered the postcards from Leon, Spain and I 've already wrote a post about it that you can read if you click here.

This morning I delivered the postcards from Izmir, Turkey. The students found these towns on the map and then started reading the postcards. They took the postcards home so that they can read and understand them better and they can also show them to their parents.

Evere time I give them the postcards it's a holiday! They are happy of receiving them, of looking at the wonderful images and of being connected to other students of the same age from all over Europe.
And ... I'm happy too both because they use English and because I see them full of enthusiasm for this eTwinning project "Postcards from our countries".

Students of class II A are now presenting towns an cities of historical interest that are near our region  to their Polish and Turkish friends of the eTwinning project "Schools get together with History". As for the previous activity the made power point presentations working on them either alone or in paris. They had to search both for pictures and for some information using internet both at school and at home.

Penna in Teverina Presentation

Here is a presentation of Penna in Teverina the students of class II A made for the eTwinning project "Schools get together with History".

Penna in Teverina and Giove are the two villages where the students taking part in this project live. They are near the bigger village of Amelia in the province of Terni, Umbria.
