Let's become tourist guides: some videos

Some weeks ago I asked my students to tell me and their friends their opinion on this etwinning project so in this video I recorded what they have said and we also shared it in TwinSpace so that the teachers and the students from the other countries can hear us!

Some days ago we also made a video showing Lugnano and its most important and beautiful places.
When we go on TwinSpace we can see videos form the other nations taking part in this project.
Here you  can see our video.

Some days ago our Finnish friends uploaded this video and watching it it almost as if we were there with them!
We liked it a lot and we share it here so that even our parents can see it.

This last video is about some of the activities we caried out within this project.

I really think the work we have been doing during this school year was important for my students and for me too because taking part in such a project allowed us to be more aware of the fact that we are  living in a bigger place that is to say the European Union, it was a wonderful chance to exchange ideas and experiences and a nice opportunity to let our students practicing English with their European peers!
I hope they will remember this experience and keep on being interested, curious and enthusiastic about communicating in English!

Singing and wishing Merry Christmas

This morning students of Lugnano sang "We wish a Merry Christmas" so that we could make a video and send it to our new European friends from the etwinning project "Let's become tourist guides".
Some of them prepared a mini poster and we sang the song.
Here is the video

Chatting, chatting, chatting

This seems to be a "chatting season", in fact some days ago even the students taking part in the project "Let's become tourist guides" had the chance to "meet" their friends from Finland.
Of course they asked each other a lot of questions, personal info and even cultural info.

We also learnt a lot about the weather in Finland in this season, they told us it is -20° there!
If you want to know more about the weather you can click here: http://en.ilmatieteenlaitos.fi/ that is the official site of the Finnish Meteorological Institute.

All the students liked this activity  a lot, they could practice everyday English with real people and get to know a bit more of another culture.

Let's become tourist guides

Some days ago I explained to the students in Lugnano the project activities they are going to do within the eTwinning project "Let's become tourist guides". They were happy to start the project and some of them have already begun to write their introduction on TwinSpace that is the virtual place where they will meet friends from several countries of Europe.

The project idea is to present the most important sights and tourist attractions of our country to the partner schools. We will make paper booklets and send one of them to every partner school. There are 12 schools involved so every partner will get 12 booklets. We will build a European corner in the language room of our school and put there a big map of Europe and the booklets. The students will learn to know interesting new things about Europe and will learn to present their own country as well.

Here is the list of all the schools involved in the project.

The main objectives of the project are:

- Students get motivated to use and study English.
- The students' language skills and English vocabulary get better.
- Students learn to tell in English about the most important sights and tourist attractions of their own country.
- The map of Europe gets more concrete to the pupils and after the project they will be more aware of the European countries and their location.
- They will notice how culturally and historically wonderful and significant sights there are all over Europe and learn to respect both their own culture and different cultures.
- Students will experience the importance and the happiness of getting to know students from different countries.

This is another map with the schools we are working with.
