Al via la IV edizione della Photo Competition per gli alunni delle classi prime e seconde delle scuole secondarie di Giove, Lugnano e Guardea.

Getting ready to start being tourist guides!

This morning in Lugnano students practiced being tourist guides together with our friend Dawn.

In fact tomorrow morning, Saturday 14th March 2015, at 10.30 they will be going around Lugnano telling people info on the different places and monuments in their village in English! 

This is only a first step, in fact they will also search for more info and deepen the descriptions both with historical, artistic and cultural details.

My summer holidays: a mind map

Second year students have started studying the past.

A couple of weeks ago the students of Guardea created this map on the blackboard joining together the ideas of all the classmates. 

Then I used the same questions and info to create the following mind map using cmap.

This way the students are helped to keep in mind all the meaningful info to tell the class while talking about their holidays.

Present perfect: let's be confused!

Yesterday morning we had the pleasure of having with us Alastair and Helen in the school of Giove.
Students of class III A are studying the present perfect tense so we had an activity on it.

Both of them tried to explain when to use this grammar structure and I think the students got it at last! 

The fact is that this is a topic that isn't very easy for English speakers either! 

After having done some exercises the students asked them some questions such as:

Have you aver been outside Europe?

Have you ever won a prize in an important competition?

Have you ever eaten Chinese food?

Have you ever ridden a horse?

And so on.

Ambasciatrice eTwinning all'opera!

La prof.ssa Gabriella Pistecchia mi ha invitata ad andare all'Istituto Oberdan a vedere i lavori che i suoi alunni hanno svolto fino ad ora nell'ambito di due progetti eTwinning.

Alcuni alunni di seconda media (gli amministratori) mi hanno subito mostrato il TwinSpace dei loro progetti, facendomi entrare nello spirito delle attività che li hanno visti coinvolti nelle prime fasi e i quelle che li vedono impegnati ora. 

Hanno fatto domande sul funzionamento del TwinSpace, hanno chiesto di imparare ad usare alcune app che hanno visto nelle pagine create dai loro coetanei europei e quindi abbiamo subito creato insieme un padlet che poi gli alunni mostreranno ai compagni italiani chiedendo di scrivere dei post. 

In seguito si sono incuriositi e hanno voluto vedere altre app e ci siamo concentrati su PowTwoon e Thinlink.

Nelson Mandela: webquest 2015 with a thinglink

As every year third year students are involved in a project about people who were important for the Civil and Human Rights movement. We have already talked about Martin Luther King and Rosa Parks and now we will focus on Nelson Mandela.

This morning together with students of Guardea we thought of some questions and things we would like to know about him.

Here are the questions to answer. 

Who was Nelson Mandela?

When and where was he born?

Where did he live?

What was his job?

Why is he important?

What are the most important achievement of his life?

Was he married?

Did he have children' how many?

What prizes was he awarded?
You can use this thinglink to find the answer to the questions. 

After having answered to these questions, find a sentence he said you like and write it on the poster we have in class. 

Chat with French students

Some days ago students of class II G had a chat session with French students from the eTwinning project "Past heroes of the English speaking world".




In this project the students will:
- Create  an interactive map showing heroes of the English-speaking world.
- Research and learn about the English-speaking world history. 
- Work as partners with pupils of other countries.
- Communicate in English with other ESL learners 
- Use ICT.


Here is the prezi we have just started to create. We will continue adding info that students of class III G and students from the other countries will find. 



Here are some pics from the chat: we enjoyed and had the chance of asking and answering some easy personal questions such as:
How old are you?
What do you do in your free time?
What's the weather like there?
What's your favourite hobby?
Do you practice a sport?
Who's your favourite singer?

and so on.
