Comenius Friendship!

When we started the Comenius Project last September we had a lot of goals to be achieved in mind such as, for example, improving the learning of foreign languages and cultures, promoting a global European citizenship, improving the standard use of ICT, improving the competences in English, sharing good practices, involving the local community in the project, etc.

We certainly hoped our students to become friends with Spanish students and that they would continue being in touch with each other after the exchange, but something more has happened and a more important goal has been achieved: FRIENDSHIP!

In fact at the beginning of August Laurita's family came to Italy to visit Francesco's family. They spent a week together touring Umbria and other important towns and cities nearby and sharing normal life in the village where the Italian family lives. They also met other students who took part in the exchange, other young people and their families.
I had the chance and the pleasure of spending an afternoon with them at Marmore Waterfalls

and I was really happy of realizing our work within this project went far beyond our expectations!

Happy Birthday Robert Redford!

Each year, at the beginning of the school my new students ask me: "Who is your favorite actor?"
And when I answer: "Robert Redford" they don't have any idea of whom I'm talking about! He is too old for them but I still like him a lot.
As today is his birthday I thought it was a good idea of writing a post about him.

Click here to find out info on his life:

And now a video from "Lions for lambs"

The following is a scene from the film "Out of Africa"

I'm practically perfect!

Pamela Lyndon Travers was born  9th August 1899 in Australia then moved to England where she lived until her death in 1996.

Who was P. L. Travers? She was the one who invented Mary Poppins, the very famous magical nanny.
She had her first Mary Poppins  book published in 1934.

In 1964 Walt Disney produced the musical film we all know.

In 2004 Cameron Mackintosh adapted the story into a stage musical. This musical is still on in Broadway in New York.

When I went to New York, two years ago, I saw it and it is really beautiful. The songs they sang were more or less the same as in the film but there were also others very nice too.
My favorite song is this one. I hope you like it too.

Listen, enjoy, sing and ...

Flat Stanley

3rd year students

As I already told some of you, I have a lot of new ideas for next school year!
One is related to this character called Flat Stanley.

I'm not going to explain anything about him because I don't want to spoil the surprise you'll get in September when we come back to school.
In the meantime you can try to look for info about him.
So the question is:

who is Flat Stanley?

If you find interesting info, links, websites about him you can click on "comments" and write a comment on this post!
