Playing Trinity
Just before Christmas holidays we started practicing and reviewing for Trinity GESE exams.
We tried to do it in a fun way, in fact I wrote 6 topics on the interactive board, paired up the students and gave them some time to think about questions to ask on each topic.
After they wrote the questions I wrote them on the board and then we started playing the game.
As it was the 21st of December and all of them feared for the end of the world I decided to play the song "I will survive"! So while the music was on they students walked around the classroom, when I stopped it, I threw the dice, the students found a partner and asked questions according to the topic of the number.

Singing and wishing Merry Christmas
This morning students of Lugnano sang "We wish a Merry Christmas" so that we could make a video and send it to our new European friends from the etwinning project "Let's become tourist guides".
Some of them prepared a mini poster and we sang the song.
Here is the videoReceiving and displaying the cards
Last week we started getting some Christmas cards from Poland, England and Spain, we opened the envelopes and read the cards.
Reading the cards in class I A
It was really interesting reading about other people's traditions and also fun.
After first year students read and understood the cards third year students collaborated to display them and we decided to decorate our Christmas tree with these cards this year.
Teacher Brunella is dividing the cards among the schools

We will add the cards from the other countries as soon as they arrive.
In this way we will really have a European Christmas tree!

Brainstorming for the topic
Last week students of class III A discussed about the topic for the GESE 4 Trinity exams.
They realized they have to prepare something they are able to talk about without learning it by heart and this means it must be something they are interested in, something they really like.
This are all the ideas that came up during this activity.
Then we discussed on some points to include in the topic and we compared their ideas with the language requirements, I also reminded them to ask some questions about the topic to the examiner.
This is the map we created.
Now the students will have time to choose a topic and think about what they want to say on it during their Christmas holidays.
As not all the students will take the Trinity exams we decided that this map will be a good idea for the end of year exams too.

Translation Competition 2012-2013 IV
Chatting, chatting, chatting
This seems to be a "chatting season", in fact some days ago even the students taking part in the project "Let's become tourist guides" had the chance to "meet" their friends from Finland.
Of course they asked each other a lot of questions, personal info and even cultural info.
We also learnt a lot about the weather in Finland in this season, they told us it is -20° there!
If you want to know more about the weather you can click here: http://en.ilmatieteenlaitos.fi/ that is the official site of the Finnish Meteorological Institute.
All the students liked this activity a lot, they could practice everyday English with real people and get to know a bit more of another culture.
