Have you ever...?

This morning in class III D we made the activity "Have you ever ...?"
The students have this chart.

They write a question for each point, then they walk around the classroom to find someone who has done one of these things and write his/her name.

After that they work in groups and ask the others in the group how many students have done these things. At the end the write the number of students in the last column and write sentences about the results.

As a follow up activity I asked them to write a sentence each point at home.

And here are some exercises to practice this new structure.

They don't care about us!

In class III B we listened to the song "They don't really care about us".

We didn't have much time to talk about it but I left you some questions:
1. Who are the people Michel Jackson refers to using "they"?
2. Who are the people he refers to using "us"?
3. Why does he say that if Roosevelt and Martin Luther King were here things would have been different?
4. Who was Roosevelt?
5. Who was Martin Luther King?

Places in town

Class III A is studying places in town.
We did activities in class to elicit vocabulary about places in town and we made a spidergram on the blackboard that they copied in their exercise books.

Here there are online exercises that can help you learn these things better.

Yesterday and today ways of communication

This is the project III D has. It is an eTwinning project and its main aims are:
- to create contacts with European students to know them and the culture of their countries;
 - to improve the use of English as a Foreign Language;
- to create real chances to use English;
- to write letters (using pens and paper!) to discover the pleasure of talking about oneself, of knowing other people, of receiving letters;
 - to implement the use of ICT.

The European students involved in these project are from France and Finland.

Italian students have already written the letters to their Finnish friends

and are going to write their answers to their French friends whose letters arrived yesterday and I delivered today.

After having received the letters they immediately started reading them. They were happy to read what their French penfriends wrote.

The letters from Spain have arrived!

Yesterday and this morning I gave my students the letters that I got two days ago from Spain.

When I told them I had the letters the atmosphere in class changed and I could feel  enthusiasm, happiness, and my students' wish to open and read them.

So I became a postwoman and delivered the letters!

After having got their letters the students started reading them and enjoyed having info about their Spanish friends. They also liked the decorations and the drawings on the letters a lot.  The students were proud of their letters and showed them to their school mates.

I asked them to start writing a reply and they didn't let me repeat it: they started at once. Some of them Had time to do it at school and some other promised to do it at home. They asked me for idiomatic expressions or more complicated words, they used the dictionary and so they created their answers to be sent to their friends.

 It will take a bit of time to have all the letters ready but we hope to be able to send them by the end of next week.
