July 4th

American Independence Day is celebrated on July the 4th. It is a national holiday in the U. S. A. and commemorates the signing of the Declaration of Independence in 1776.
Before 1776, there were 13 colonies under the control of the English Crown. These colonies were not happy because they had to pay taxes to England without any representation in the English Parliament, so they decided to form the Continental Congress, where on 4th July 1776, they drafted a formal declaration of independence.

The following year they started to celebrate this day and by the first years of the 1800s the tradition of picnics, parades and firework had become very common and it is still very common nowadays.
